A spokesman for the Somali forces in Gedo and Juba region have accused the Al-Shabaab group of looting fuel and food stuffs from locals in Beled-Hawo town after militants stormed the town on Saturday.

Speaking to Sunatimes, Col. Warfa Sheikh Adan also claimed that the militants have committed cross human rights violations during their attack in the area.

He said the militants attacked the town after their soldiers went for an unspecified mission outside the town but later managed force militants out of the area.

He claimed only one soldier died and three others sustained injuries during the fight.

His sentiments comes a day heavily armed militants stormed the border town and briefly seized control.

Meanwhile area leaders have called for a crisis meeting this morning to discuss the souring insecurity in the area.

Siyad Abdi Kalil of the national army told Sunatimes that the meeting was aimed at discussing ways to safeguard the safety of locals and their property following the Sunday militant attack in the area.
