Suspected pirates arrested in Eyl, Nugal region

Puntland Coast Guards have arrested two suspected pirates in a crackdown on pirates in Eyl, Nugal region.

In an exclusive interview with Sunatimes, force commander Abdirizack Gulleid Farah said they raided suspected pirates hideout near Eyl town last night and arrested the two suspected sea gangs.

He said they acted on intelligence report that the suspects were planning to commit an offence before their arrest, adding that the suspects were in possession of equipments like boats and telecommunication gadgets known for pirates operating in the area.

Farah added that the suspects will soon be arraigned in court to answer piracy charges against them once investigations are complete.

He however promised to tackle piracy along the coastal areas of Puntland, urging locals to work with them in defeating piracy in the region.
