Puntland president declares his political party

The president of Puntland State of Somalia on Wednesday declared his political party, Horsed, the first of its kind ever to be formed in the region since declaring its autonomy fifteen years ago.

President Abdirahman Mohame Farole declared his party in parliamentary session in Garowe. Farole said all government officials including the cabinet ministers are members of his party.

He said the new party will work on strengthening security, unity, equality and justice in Puntland.

The party’s founders say 209 members have already been registered for the party.

Puntland has recently adopted multiparty system to replace the clan based politics.
