Security meeting concluded in Guri’el

A two-day security meeting has been concluded in central Somali town of Guri’el, Galgadud region, on Thursday night reports say.

The meeting which was attended by area traditional elders, government and Ahlu Sunna officials was aimed at discussing security situation in the entire Galgadud region.

Speaking at the conclusion of the meeting, area deputy district commissioner Ali Bashi Adan Diriye said that participants agreed to put in place several security measures in order to safeguard the lives and properties of the locals.

He promised to continue with such meeting until last peace is achieved in the area.

The meeting comes days after armed militants attacked a prison in Guri’el town and freed over 10 detainees who were being held there.
