Mogadishu (Sunatimes) The Ugandan and Burundi governments have finalized plans to deploy 4,000 more troops to Somalia to join the peacekeeping forces already in Mogadishu.
3,000 of the soldiers have been provided by Uganda while the remaining 1,000 will come from Burundi.
Officials from Uganda said the soldiers underwent training about the tradition of the Somalis imparting them with the norms and taboos and to refrain from anything that would infringe their religion and tradition.
The 4,000 plan deployment is an effort by the African Union to help the transitional federal government to bring peace, stability and to secure the country from the claws of the opposition groups
The African Union has called upon the international community to support and reinforce the African peacekeeping forces in Somalia while the United Nation has approved sending 4,000 more troops to Somalia to energize the 8,000 troops in Mogadishu.
