Bosaso(Sunatimes) A nighttime curfew taking effect from 11:00 pm has been imposed on Puntland’s commercial town of Bosaso, and operations by Puntland security forces to tighten the security in the region are underway.
The security forces checked into business centers in the main market in Bosaso where they retrieved weapons. Many people were arrested in the operation.
The commanding police officer of Bosaso, Abshir Abass Abdirahman who spoke to Bar-kulan said many of those who have been arrested were later released, mostly youth who were watching football late at the night.
The curfew is aimed at curbing insecurity and strengthening the overall tranquility of the city, which has recently witnessed a surge of what seems to be planned assassinations against officials and influential people.
Deaths rooted in clan revenge have also happened in Punland for the last days, which are said to have warranted the operations.
