Nairobi (Sunatimes) The UN special envoy for Somalia Augustine Mahiga said he is optimistic that the outcome of the consultative meeting in Nairobi tomorrow will bear fruits. Exposing his confidence, Mr. Mahiga said there can be no peace without dialogue.
In an exclusive interview with Bar-kulan, Mr. Mahiga said the meeting aims at reanimating the peace process asserting that the meeting will pave the way for a follow up talks to be held in Mogadishu.
Mr. Mahiga explicitly explained that steps to be taken will be planned after the end of the TFG’s term.
The envoy expressed his dissatisfaction with the Transitional Federal Government in which it has brushed away the participation in this meeting while some officials from the administration of Galmudug and Puntland took part in the meeting. He said he expected all stakeholders of Somalis to take part in the meeting.
A delegation headed by the speaker of the Somali parliament is participating in the consultative. It is not known what the outcome of the meeting will be.
