Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Drivers routing the road that connects Mogadishu and Elasha Biyaha, a corridor outside of Mogadishu where tens of thousands of refugees have fled to, are lamenting over road blocks freshly put by the militias of Al Shabab in the KM 13 area.

One of the drivers who spoke to Bar-kulan said that some money amounting to 20,000 Somali shillings are collected from every vehicle passing through that route to and fro.

The drivers expressed their inability to afford and pay such amount of money. If this continues, they said, they may discontinue their job of being drivers as the money collected is unaffordable for them. This may bring serious problem to the driver and eventually cause stoppage of using that route.

The drivers also said trucks and Lorries carrying heavy haulage are required to pay a million Somali shillings. The drivers are pessimistic about how the trucks are going to pass through the road connecting Mogadishu and Elasha Biyaha.

This road block brings the number of Al Shabab controls to two between the road of Mogadishu and Afgoye.
