Mogadishu (Sunatimes) The spokesman of the Somali police force Gen. Abdullahi Hassan Barise said the government will welcome the youths who have been cheated by Al-shabab militants to join them.
Gen. Barise advised the youth to avoid the ongoing conflict. He urged those who already joined the insurgent group to re-consider their decision.
The police spokesman announced that the government will not prosecute or punish any Shabab fighter who defects from the insurgent group that is linked to other international terrorist organizations.
General Barise also said that the government forces have on Tuesday killed several youths who were fighting for Al-shabab in the Bondere battle where the government troops seized parts of Bondere neighborhood of Mogadishu from Al-shabab.
The government previously announced that it was concerned of the situation of the local youths fighting for Al-shabab.
