Berdale (Sunatimes) Al-shabab militants in the Bay and Bakol regions have hijacked a number of vehicles carrying goods on transit.

The militants intercepted the goods that belong to local businessmen in the two regions on Wednesday morning.

Abdiweli Malin Abdullahi who is a resident in Berdale district told Bar-kulan that the insurgents have seized at least ten trucks loaded with goods. The militants stopped the vehicles at a road block in the road between Berdale and Luq districts.

Although it is not clear why Al-shabab militants have seized the vehicles carrying commercial goods, some reports say that they are preventing the goods from reaching government controlled areas in the Gedo and Bakol regions.

Forces supporting the TFG have seized several districts and villages in the Gedo, Bay and Bakol regions from Al-shabab militants in recent battles.
