Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Different occasions were held in different locations within Somalia on Tuesday to mark the International World Water day.
In Dusamareb, the capital of the Galgadud region, the occasion was marked by a local humanitarian organization, Towfik NGO. The occasion was attended by members of civil society groups and representatives from the local district administration.
Elsewhere, Somaliland’s minister for Water and Minerals, Hussein Abdi Duale, while observing the World Water Day said there was acute shortage of water in many parts of the Somaliland administration.
The minister said the regional administration of the break away state will tackle the challenges caused by water shortage in Somaliland.
The observation of world water day around the globe comes at a time when one of the worst draughts is hitting hard in many parts of the Horn of Africa region affecting the lives of both humans and livestock.
