Mogadishu (Sunatimes) An awareness campaign for the local elders was today organized in Mogadishu. The campaign was aimed to urge the elders convince the youths to reject Al-shabab ideologies.

Members of the Transitional Federal Parliament also attended the campaign meeting.

The campaign was organized by a local organization that wants to educate people about the danger of falling for the militant group.

Al-shabab militants usually convince the youths to join them in their fight that they describe as “a holy war”. The insurgents also recruit under age children to fight for them.

During the campisgn meeting that was held in Sahafi hotel of Mogadishu city, elders were also urged not to be forced by Al-shabab to fight for them. The group has recently been recruiting old men to participate in the ongoing fighting.
