Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Forces supporting the Somali Transitional Government have taken control of Qowlad which was a strategic base from Al-Shabab militia after two days of heavy fighting, Spokesman for the Pro-government troops said on Wednesday.
Mohamed Nor Ago Joof, the spokesman of the pro-government troops told Bar-kulan that they took over the control of Qowlad base, 16 km from Belet Weyn without any resistance from the Shabab militants.
Ago Jof added that their take over of the base without any resistance from Al-shabab indicated that the insurgents were weaker.
The spokesman threatened that they will not stop the fighting against Al-Shabaab untill they take the control of Belet Weyn, which is the capital of the Hiran region.
On the other hand, the residents of El-gal village which is 4 km to Qowlad have been anxious about the fighting between the pro-government troops and Al-shabaab Militia, that caused the death of civilians in the residence after mortar attacks hit their residence.
