    Somalia:Qandala Administration to Rescue Hijacked Boat

    The Yemeni owned fishing boat was under the custody of Farah Osman Duale who is a resident of Qandalo. The boat belongs to a Yemeni citizen.

The Yemeni owned fishing boat was under the custody of Farah Osman Duale who is a resident of Qandalo. The boat belongs to a Yemeni citizen.

Qandala (Sunatimes) The administration of Qandala district is making some efforts to rescue a hijacked fishing boat from Somali pirates.

Few days ago, a group of Somali pirates hijacked the boat from Somali and Yemeni fishermen. The pirates left the fishermen at the coast and took away their boat.

The district commissioner of Qandala district, Jama Mohamed Yussuf said pirates have hijacked the boast at the coast of Qandala. The pirates are believed to have sailed the boat towards the Gulf of Aden to use it for carrying out attacks on commercial ships.

The Yemeni owned fishing boat was under the custody of Farah Osman Duale who is a resident of Qandalo. The boat belongs to a Yemeni citizen.

The pirates who hijacked the boat are also believed to be residents of Qandalo district. Rescue efforts are underway to save the boat.

Abdullahi Gurey, one of the Qandalo elders said the hijacking of the boat has left worried many Yemeni fishermen in the district.  Yemeni fishermen usually carry out their fishing activities in the north eastern coast of Somalia.
