Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Elders in Kismayo district, capital of the lower Juba region have requested Al-shabab militants to release an online journalist they have recently arrested.
The elders met with Al-shabab officials on Saturday morning to facilitate the release of journalist Abdikadir Agmadige who was kidnapped from his house by Shabab militias.
One of the elders who were mainly from the tribe of the journalist, Hasan Mohamud Elmi told Bar-kulan that the Shabab leaders did not give them a good response.
Al-shabab’s Kismayo press officer, Samatar Ali said their militants were still investigating the journalist. However, it is not yet clear the reason why Shabab militias arrested Abdikadir.
The elders were worried when they visited the Al-shabab controlled prison in Kismayo and could not find the journalist.
