The ministry has also ordered health facilities operating in Puntland to register themselves with the health ministry in four days time

Garowe (Sunatimes) Puntland’s ministry of health has introduced a new policy restricting the sale of drugs in chemists.

A press release from the office of the minister for health Ali Abdullahi announced that chemist operators will not be allowed to sale drugs that have not been prescribed by the doctors.

The press release also stated that drugs meant for the treatment of Tuberculosis and other treatable but dangerous diseases should not be sold in the chemists.

The ministry has also ordered health facilities operating in Puntland to register themselves with the health ministry in four days time. Unregistered clinics and dispensaries will not be allowed to operate. The statement warned.

The health ministry also issued a directive to the Puntland media where it warned that broadcasters will not be allowed to advertise drugs and medical products with out the permission of the ministry.
