BAIDOA (Sunatimes)--Ethiopian troops have re-entered Somalia and seize two Somali towns from the extremist rebel group of Alshabaab in two days, according to witnesses on Wednesday.
Reports from Elbarde and Yed towns on Ethiopia border say Ethiopian soldiers had set up in the two towns and ousted Alshabaab fighting without resistance.
“They are in the two adjoining towns, Alshabab fled and no violence happened” Nurow Takow, a resident in Elbarde told Sunatimes.
“They crossed into Yed next and set up bases in” he added.
The Ethiopian troops have withdrawn from Somalia on 2008 as part of a peace deal agreed between the government and moderate Islamists in Djibouti.
They left behind African Union peacekeeping troops and Somali government soldiers in Mogadishu but analysts have said that force is unlikely to be able to keep the advancing Islamists at bay.
The horn of Africa nation has been without central government since1991 after clan militias and warlords overthrown the dictator regime of Siad Barre that lastly leashed out to constant violence for more than 20 years.
