Mogadishu (Sunatimes) The Transitional Federal Government announced on Thursday that it will not allow the selling of weapons in the areas under its control in Mogadishu.
Gen. Yusuf Mohamed Siyad Indaadd of the TFG military said those who will disobey the ban order will be dealt with according to the law.
A military court of the TFG on Wednesday made a ruling involving seven people (two TFG soldiers and four civilians). The two soldiers were accused of selling bullets to the civilians. They were given a sentence of between two to three years.
Previouslt some TFG soldiers were accused of selling weapons supplied to them to traders who later provide them for Al-shabab insurgents to use against the government.
The move to ban the sell of weapons in government controlled areas could also boost the security situation in those parts of the city.
