The statement said that France was committed to help Somalia achieve peace and stability

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) The French government has recently airlifted 13 injured peace keepers of the Africa Union Mission for Somalia (AMISOM) to Djibouti for treatment.

A press statement from the office of the spokesman of Somali affairs for France’s foreign and European affairs ministry said the solders were taken to Bouffard hospital in Djibouti to receive emergency medical care. Some of those soldiers were wounded in combat during the past few days in Mogadishu.

The statement said that France was committed to help Somalia achieve peace and stability.

The French government also expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the Burundian and Ugandan soldiers who died in recent days.

Burundi and Uganda are the only two countries providing peace keepers to the AU Somali mission. Their forces were involved in a recent offensive against Al-shabab militants who are fighting the Transitional Somali government.
