The militias have threatened that they will punish those who will not comply with the new rules

Gedo (Sunatimes) Al-shabab militias in the Lower Juba region announced that they have established a new immigration office at the Kenya-Somali border.

The militants have ordered all road transport service operators at the border to pass by their office. They group has also introduced new rules that both the travelers and transporters now have to abide by.

The militias ordered the vehicles offering transport at the border not to carry more than ten people at ago. They also told residents of Kismayo town that anyone traveling to Kenya has to register with their office.

The militias have threatened that they will punish those who will not comply with the new rules.

It is reported that the insurgents are worried that Somali youth in Kismayo town may escape from their militia and flee to Kenya or join a local militia that is being prepared to fight them at the border.

The militia also fears that their fighters in the Lower Juba region will be attacked from the Kenyan side of the border as they recently threatened Kenya that it will attack it’s borders if forces opposing them attack the areas under their control from Kenya.
