Mogadishu (Sunatimes) The Somali cabinet had a meeting on Saturday in Mogadishu where they have discussed the ending transition period of the Somali government.
Minister for information Abdikarim Hassan Jama who addressed the media after the meeting, said, the ministers discussed how the government could go through the transition period on August. He said the cabinet has prepared a new plan to embark on for a smooth transition during that period.
Abdikarim explained that, part of the plan was to consult different government departments, civil society groups and the international community.
The minister also said, the cabinet agreed that every department of the government should be confined to its stipulated duties.
The transitional period of the Somali government which was formed in 2004 will end on August this year. However, the Somali parliament recently extended it’s transition period to three years, a move that was strongly condemned by different stake holders and partners.
