    Somali Community in Yemen Meets Security Officials

    There are hundreds of Somali refugees living in Yemen. Several of them live in Basatin neighborhood of the Aden city.

There are hundreds of Somali refugees living in Yemen. Several of them live in Basatin neighborhood of the Aden city.

San'a (Sunatimes) The Somali community in Aden city of Yemen met with security officials in Basatin neighborhood of the port city on Sunday.

The meting was held to discuss how the Somali population in the area could be prevented from participating in the ongoing protests against the Yemeni regime.

Previously, Yemen security officials have imposed some restrictions on the Somali refugees living in Aden city after some of them allegedly participated in the demonstrations.

Elders of the Somali population in Yemen together with the security officials have agreed on several issues that were presented at the end of the meeting. Those agreements include; that Somali refugees should not take part in the protests and the police would take action against any Somali person seen in areas where Yemeni protesters gather.

There are hundreds of Somali refugees living in Yemen. Several of them live in Basatin neighborhood of the Aden city.

Yemeni opposition groups who are protesting against the regime of president Ali Abdullah Saleh have also accused Somalis in Yemen for participating in what they described as “government organized protests” in Aden and other parts of the country.
