Mogadishu (Sunatimes) After four consecutive days of fighting, Somalia’s capital city, Mogadishu, remains calm today.
Although Al-shabab militants and Transitional Government forces are still exchanging some gun shots, the areas that were affected by the clashes this week remain calm.
Some of the people who fled their homes during the fighting have also returned. Al-shabab fighters and government forces together with the Africa Union peace keepers are also guarding their frontlines.
The recent clashes in Mogadishu have halted road transport system in some major roads as movement of people was also very minimal. Some of Mogadishu’s major markets have also experienced poor business.
Government forces are now patrolling the areas they have recently seized from Al-shabab insurgents.
