Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Residents of Mogadishu city are fleeing areas hit by the ongoing clashes in the capital.
Several camps of displaced persons in government controlled areas have received hundreds of people fleeing the areas recently hit by the violence such as Hodan, Howlwadag and Daynile. The areas are among the places where Al-shabab insurgents, government forces and Africa Union peace keepers have been fighting over.
Ibado warsame, who is a leader of Bil and Hidig camp one of the camps receiving the IDPS said some of the displaced persons need water and food which are very scarce commodities in the camp.
The recent clashes in Mogadishu have increased the number of internally displaced persons increasing the need for more aid.
Some people who were affected by drought are among the people forming new informal settlements in already over populated camps around Mogadishu.
