Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Al-shabab militias have on Saturday brought one hundred and fifty animals to Afmadow livestock market and reduced the normal selling price.

The animals are reported to have been collected by the militant group from pastoralists in the Lower Juba region to fund their war against the Somali Transitional Federal government forces in Mogadishu.

The insurgents sold the animals cheaply changing the normal prices.

Traders at the market complained that the militias spoilt business in the market but they were ordered to trade at the new rate introduced by the insurgent group. Some of them said they will quit business if Al-shabab keeps interfering.

Residents of Afmadow district were wondering why the Shabab militias have decided to sell the animals they have previously collected as “Zakat” (charity) meant to be distributed to the poor people. Al-shabab militias have been collecting the animals since they came to power.
