DJibouti (Sunatimes) Security officials in Djibouti have arrested forty protesters including two opposition leaders on Saturday.
A demonstration that was held on Friday to oust President Ismail Omar Gele turned violent and two people and a soldier were killed. Several other people were injured.
Protesters have set fire on vehicles on the road and government buildings in Djibouti. Business premises in the city were also destroyed.
Djibouti foreign minister Yasiin Ilmi Buh has confirmed to the media on Saturday the deaths of two people. The minister described the protests as unfortunate events.
The Djibouti government has appointed a commission of inquiry that will look into the destructions caused by the protests.
The anti government demonstrations in Djibouti are the latest in a series of demonstrations spurred on by political protests across Africa and the Middle East.
