Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Al-shabab insurgents in Mogadishu’s Banadir region have on Sunday released a Somali photo journalist working for Reuters.

Abdi Dakane Iye alias (Abdi Yare) was arrested by Shabab militias on Saturday while attending a press conference held by Al-shabab in Mogadishu.

The militias took away his camera, unspecified amount of money and other duty equipments. Al-shabab militia group did not give any reason for his arrest.

It was not also clear why the photo journalist alone was picked from several other journalists attending the press conference.

The incident has created some fear among many journalists working as correspondents for foreign news agencies. Al-shabab militias usually arrest, torture or even kill journalists reporting matters that are contrary to the interest of the group.
