MOMBASA (Sunatimes) - As parts of his recent initiative to help the plight-hit Somalis in Kenyan jails without reasoned crimes and trial, Somalia’s ambassador to Kenya once again spends his second day in Kenya’s Mombasa town to rally round for the release of Somali citizens in Kenyan jails.
Ambassador Mohamed Ali better known as ‘Americo’ has visited Mombasa’s
biggest prison where hundreds of Somalis have been put behind bars, amid concerns over the libvelihood of the inmates, mostly underage Somalis.
Americo visited the jail for about two hours; correspondent accompanying him reported that he also met Somali community living in the town and gone by to refugees camps where he met war-displaced people to seek help for them.
Mr. Mohamed also visited business vicinities, met business people and went to see a police headquarters where he saw immature Somali detainees being held in.
At the end of his visit in Mombasa, Mr. Americo has received a very enormous reception.
Political analysts say the ambassador’s visit may reduce pressure on the Somalis in Kenya, declaring that progress had been made during his visit on Monday.
