Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Al-Shabaab militias have accused radio Bar-kulan and website for broadcasting news stories covering their restrictions on humanitarian organizations in Somalia.
The spokesman of Al-shabab, Ali Mohamud Rage, said, Bar-kulan has been broadcasting and writing news stories that are undermining his group’s publicity. Ali Dere described the stories as fallacies and propagandas aimed to bring down his group. He vowed that all those opposing the group and praying for its down fall will not succeed.
Bar-kulan radio and website has been publishing and broadcasting news stories on the drought situation in the Somali regions and Al-shabab’s involvement in acting against the move of some humanitarian organizations in the regions under their control.
The insurgent group last year suspended several aid groups after the organizations refused to pay them some huge amounts of money for them to continue their operations.
The Somali regions controlled by Al-shabab insurgents are among the worst hit parts of the Horn of Africa region by the ongoing drought. Some the areas receive little or no humanitarian supply as the group imposes too many restricts on the organizations.
