Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Al-shabab insurgents in Beletweyne, the capital of the Hiran region, have ordered high school administrators to present the names of school gradates before producing their final results.

The militias want to analyze the results of the students and select the best performers in joining their militias. The high school graduates are then expected to be given militia training.

Parents have already expressed their concern over the matter. Some of the high school graduates are also planning to leave Beletweyne as they try to save themselves from being militia men.

Elswhere, two young men from Beletweyne were each given fifteen strokes by Al-shabab militias for obtaining cell phones in an illegal manner.

The two were earlier arrested and locked in Beletweyne’s cell for three days before being beaten in an open field where hundreds of residents were assembled to watch.
