Garowe (Sunatimes) A hotly contested football competition that featured teams from fifteen regions in Somalia came to an end on Friday, the last day of the year 2010.

Banadir region team from the capital of Mogadishu emerged winners and champions of the competitive tournament after beating Puntland’s Eatsern region team in the final match with one goal.

Banadir’s winning goal was scored in the fourth minute by their 17 year old striker, Ali Mohamed Abow.

Most of the matches were played at Mire Aware Stadium in Garowe as hundreds of jovial Somali fans turned up to cheer their teams. A few Somali former sport personalities and a number of Somalis living in the Diaspora also came to Garowe to watch some of the sensational matches.

Both local and international based Somali media also covered the entire competition which is the eighteenth inter- regional football tournament ever held in the horn of African country.
