SKA will propose how the aeroplanes will be taxed, but the Somali government will have the mandate to approve the proposal

MOGADISHU-(Sunatimes) According to classified documents obtained by Somali media houses, Somali Transitional Government has signed a logistical and aviation deal with a foreign company that will run Mogadishu airport.

The government reached the secret deal with a company called SKA Air and Logistics, a firm specialized in aviation and logistics services after meeting between Somali officials and the firm’s agents in Nairobi in the last month.

In relation to the documents, this foreign company will run the international airport in Mogadishu for ten years and also will be in charge of aeroplanes taxation.

The director of SKA Air and Logistics, David Tomkins has said his company was given permission by the Somali government to undertake major repair of the airport and its ornamentation.

SKA will propose how the aeroplanes will be taxed, but the Somali government will have the mandate to approve the proposal.

In the document, Mr. Tomkins noted that his company was concerned about the security of passenger aeroplanes, and that they will deal with the matter.

He also said that he had held a meeting at Mogadishu airport with officials from 5 airliners operating in Somalia and that his firm will be able to search properly everything that is being imported through Mogadishu airport.

SKA Air and Logistics has got several offices in Middle East, and it was established in 2003, when the USA invaded Iraq.

The company has been working in Iraq, Lebanon, UAE and several other countries in Middle East.

The motto of this firm is to carry out very difficult activities in conflict areas.
