About Us
The SOM Civil Court, commonly known as the Social Media Civil Court, is a grassroots justice and humanitarian initiative based in Somalia. Operating independently for many years, the Court leverages the power of social media to resolve civil disputes, provide humanitarian aid, and uphold justice in communities where formal institutions are often inaccessible or inadequate.

Our Mission


To serve as a people-centered institution that delivers justice, supports vulnerable populations, and upholds human dignity across Somalia through transparent, accessible, and community-driven means.


Core Functions

1. Civil Dispute Resolution
We mediate and resolve various types of civil disputes, including:

  • Family issues (e.g., custody and parental responsibility)
  • Loan recovery cases
  • Land and property disagreements
  • Community-based restitution and compensation

2. Humanitarian Assistance
Our court stands in solidarity with vulnerable groups by:

  • Supporting cancer patients, the blind, and persons with disabilities
  • Building orphanages and health clinics
  • Digging water wells for communities in need
  • Establishing schools and Quranic learning centers
  • Providing emergency relief and food aid to the poor

3. Tracing Missing Persons
