    Somalia:TFG Denies Claims of National Domain Sale

    Jama clarified that the TFG contracted a foreign firm that will be running the domain server as the company is also able to use special computers used in running the domain server.

Jama clarified that the TFG contracted a foreign firm that will be running the domain server as the company is also able to use special computers used in running the domain server.
Mogadishu (Sunatimes)  Somalia’s Transitional Federal government has denied it the national Domain name .so was sold.
Somalia’s Postal and Communication minister Abdikarim Hasan Jama held a press conference yesterday in Mogadishu. The minister refuted claims recently made by the media that the domain name for Somalia was sold.
Mr. Jama said the Somali government is in possession of the national domain name “.so”. The Minster explained that the Somali government was not able to operate the domain server which requires high speed internet and permanent electricity supply, services that are not fully available in Mogadishu.
Jama clarified that the TFG contracted a foreign firm that will be running the domain server as the company is also able to use special computers used in running the domain server.
The minister also said that Somalia was not alone in contracting able private companies to run national domains.
