More than fifty Somali University students are stranded in Al-kharaz refugee camp in Yemen. The students fear arrests that are carried out by police who are in charge of security of the on going Gulf Soccer Tournament.
The security operations have limited the activities of most Somali individuals living near the stadiums where the matches are being played.
The chairman of Somali University Students Association in Yemen told Bar-kulan that Yemeni security officials have restricted the movement of Somalis and most of the university students who live in Al-kharaz camp are not allowed to go out of the camp.
Both local and international media previously reported that Al-Qaida linked Somali terrorist groups and individuals may disrupt the gulf countries competition in Yemen.
Yemeni police officers have arrested close to two hundred Somalis in different security operations in Southern Yemen since the football competition started.
