Currently the two publications are in a digital format but the aim is to issue printed versions soon. The paper and bulletin are currently in Somali language but plans are under way in having them in English and Arabic as well The Ministry of Information this week launched a weekly newspaper named “Dalka (The Country)” and a daily news bulletin.

The newspaper is an informative way of engaging with public and a chance to increase the literacy rate of the oral society of Somalia. The aim of both publications is to give the government the extra means to inform Somalis inside the country as well as in the Diaspora and the international community about key developments in the country. Both publications will document key events in hard retrievable form.

The newspaper covers many topical issues including politics, reconciliation, business, health, education, youth, women, sports, etc. in addition, there will be a page dedicated to Somali poets, musicians, poems, etc in order to appeal to diverse readers. 

The Ministry of Information appreciates the help and assistance from UN Political Office for Somalia (UNPOS) for the help in re-launching Somali National News Agency (SONNA) which is undertaking both publications.
