Mogadishu (Sunatimes) The local authority of Puntland’s Bosaso city has banned two Somali TV reporters from their operations. Bosaso mayor Mohamud Beldaje Farah produced a circular that banned the journalists from operation.
Mr. Beldaj read the circular in front of other journalist who attended a press conference he organized in Bosaso and announced that journalists Ahmed Musa and Ahmed Mohamed have been banned from carrying out any media activity in Bosaso.
Ahmed Musa who works for London based Somali Universal TV as a news reporter and Ahmed Mohamed who works for Somaliland based Horn Cable TV have been accused of un ethical behaviors and undermining the administration of Puntland.
The two journalists on their part denied the allegations leveled against them and said that their ban was just another media harassment and abuse by Puntalnd’s administration.
Puntland’s president Abdirahman Farole has just recently granted a presidential pardon to a journalist who was sentenced to serve six years in jail after interviewing the leader of a local rebel group. Both local and international media and right groups condemned the arrest of the journalist and the court’s verdict.
