MOGADISHU (Sunatimes) The authorities of Somalia' s central Galmudug and Hebin and Heb administrations said on Sunday they are continuing efforts to end the clan fighting which has resumed in the areas under the control of their autonomies.
20 people were reported to have been
killed in the recent flare up of fighting between Sa'ad and Saleban sub-clans of
Habar-Gidir clan of main
Hawiye tribe. the
latest confrontations took place in villages of Gelinsor district of Galgadud
Both sub-clans have long hostility over clan retaliation resulted by pastoral and territorial disputes.
Mayor of Gelinsor district in Galmudug state, Ali Bashi told Bar-kulan Radio based in Nairobi that they were first attacked by militias loyal to Hebin and Heb administration and now they are ready to welcome any efforts to stop the war between the brothers.
On the other side, the deputy mayor of Adado town in Haben and Heb administration Abdullahi Moalim also told Bar-kulan they are determined to safe the civilans by stop the bloodshed. "We made telephone contacts with Galmudug officials to reach ceasefire." he said.
All the Somali communities from both Galmudug and Hebin Heb administrations in diaspora particularly in Europe and America expressed their sorrow over the ongoing clan-fighting in central Somalia and called on the local elders and intellectuals to stop the war and search for durable solution for decades long clan-war.
