Sunatimes Editorial By Mohamed Abdi Farah

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Somalia, which the US government and United Nations already branded as a base for the most wanted international Al-Qaeda terror operatives, is getting deeper into social and political crisis in cause of vary and opposing ideologies among country’s rival hostile stakeholders of Al-Qaeda inspired Al-Shabaab Islamic militants and the less radical Hizbul Islam insurgents on one side and the internationally recognized secular government but militarily besieged and moderate Islamic Sufis known as ‘Ahlusuna Waljama group’ on the other side.

What it is so confused is how the international community is paying the price to bring Peace in Somalia for both financially and militarily and how is this not matching to fit. We know that a lot of money spent to the feeble government and also to the African Union peace mission in Somalia particularly in Mogadishu and nothing has been achieved rather than increasing the loss of innocent and desperate civilians.

On the rebel side, it is perplexing what the terror linked group are fighting for? For their claim, they say that they are battling for introducing the Islamic Sharia law in the country, but this goes beyond the truth with the reference of their unsolicited conducts like killing another innocent Muslim person.

Looking into the war games raging on the ground, it simply gives you that Somalia is a proxy war between international terror network Al-Qaeda and US government – as Al-Qaeda who wants to consolidate its positions in horn of Africa after facing more difficulties in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But this proxy war draws the poorest horn of African nation Somalia into further darker future with its people got into dilemma.

To the end of my short article in Sunatimes editorial, Somalia needs to be helped by the international community by means of unhindered western force alongside urgent humanitarian aid to save the nation from the plight of the terrorism.
