Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Chairman of the Somali Business Community in Mogadishu Iman Mohamed Ali said that his association was constructing a livestock health inspection center in Mogadishu.

Animals will undergo health inspection at the new center before being transported to the Gulf countries.

Somalia exports millions of livestock consisting of goats, sheep and cattle to the Arab world. Livestock keeping is also the main economic activity in Somalia.

Such inspection centers have also been established in Bosaso and Berbera, two port cities in the semi-autonomous regions of Puntland and Somaliland.

Veterinary officials will inspect livestock bought by the traders before being transported by ship to the Arab countries.
