MOGADISHU (Sunatimes) A session by the Somalia parliament aimed to vote for the confidence of the recently appointed prime minister has been postponed due to technical issues – as overnight fierce fighting raged in north of the capital Mogadishu between the rebel Islamic insurgents and government troops backed the African Union peacekeepers.

Today’s parliament assembly could not be possible to take place because of the absence of many lawmakers at the scene.

“The meeting that was supposed to approve the newly prime minister was delayed today and we will later inform when the MPs resume.” Ibraham Hassan Bulle, one of the parliament secretaries told the local media.

On Wednesday, the members of the parliament disagreed over whether they would vote for hand raising or in hiding way which resulted in squabble.

Mr. Mohamed Abdulaahi Mohamed (Farmajo), who was named by the president as the country’s prime minister a week ago, is still battling for the approval by the over-numbered parliament.

Fighting continues in north of the Somalia capital where the Al-Qaeda linked groups of Al-Shabaab and Hizbul Islam attacked last night military posts by the government troops and African Union forces. It is yet unclear the casualty of the last battle.
