    Somalia: Somali-American diplomat appointed as prime minister

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) Somalia’s president has on Thursday officially named Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed known as (Farmajo) as his prime minister after two month long efforts of who is worthy to fill that vacant post – as the government still faces almost daily attacks from the Islamist rebel groups.
Speaking to the reporters at the presidential headquarter, president Sharif Sheik Ahmed said after long consultations he decided to appoint Mr. Mohamed who is Somali-American diplomat.
Mr. Mohamed, a 49 year-old, based in Washington came into office after former premier resigned.


The new prime minister, educated in America, is from Marehan sub-caln of Darod as the government is built on 4.5 formula which four major clans and on minor clan.
The intellectuals and the elders of Marehan have been struggling to see themselves in the political stage since this key position was vacated.
It is not yet known what the new premier can change the current terrible situation in Somalia.
This political change came as Al-Shabaab, the Al-Qaeda linked terror group still continue the fight against the government and the African Union peacekeepers.
