The Jubbaland administration has released Ahmed Abdi Hassan (Ahmed Tajir) on Monday after Hassan spent five days in jail for allegedly inciting crisis in the federal member state. President, Ahmed Mohamed Islaam on Sunday evening pardoned him and dropped charges against him Abdi who spoke to media on Sunday evening after he was released from the jail said that he has vacated the office following what he termed protracted political differences.

"I, Ahmed Hassan Abdi who represents Ahmed Afmadow in the Jubbaland Assembly would like to tell people of my constituency, people of Jubbaland as well as people of Somalia that I am leaving the office after encountering political differences that had lasted a long time, culminating in the move to arrest me on 30th January this year," said Abdi.

Earlier, Jubbaland deputy president, Mohamud Siyad Adan said the MP would be taken to court.

Hassan's political woes began last week when the Jubbland assembly voted to strip him of the immunity he enjoyed as an MP after the assembly's Ethnic, Discipline and Immunity committee accused him of violating the constitution.

The move came after the MP and several others were said to have proposed an impeachment motion against state President Ahmed Mohamed Islam and his cabinet.
