Mogadishu(Sunatimes)-Km-50 airport in the lower Shabelle region, south Mogadishu are reported to have its service suspended by militant militias there, Kat trader said.

Number of large forces with armed vehicles reached the airport yesterday stopping all operations that the airport had particularly the main product (Kat) which used to be imported in the airport.

The forces dispersed the staff and the security guides that KM50 airport had early since the businessman called Hah used to control there.

The militant insurgents of Al-shabab ordered Kat traders not to import and bring Kat there completely.

Talks between those militias and Kat-traders are said to be existing and it’s not known whether it would be fruitful one or not.

Kat product always comes to the capital, Mogadishu late times in the Kat-markets in the latest two days and many people in queue are seen awaiting the Kat.

Kenya is main source where the Kat is brought from and it gets large income from the kat sent to Somali daily and this action will also damage the neighboring country of Kenya since thousands of US dollars will be suspended from it.

The measure that was halted Km-50’s whole activity seems to be part of previous orders which the Islamist militias of Al-shabab used to do.
