By Abdinasir Mohamed, editor in chief  MOGADISHU (Sunatimes)- The president of Somalia, Sheikh SharifSheikh Ahmad, has accused a regional body of failing to honour itspledge to send peacekeepers to his country as his government is underattack from Al-Qaeda linked rebels in Mogadishu.

Sharif made the statement during a meeting with the Ethiopian primeminister, Meles Zenawi, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa as thetwo leader have widely discussed over the possibility of sendingEthiopian troops to Somalia to crush the rebel groups in Somalia.



Anaylsts say Ethiopia is the only firepower that can crush the rebelsthreatening the security of the horn of Africa region

" We are again asking IGAD and the countries pledged to sendpeacekeepers to Somalia to honour their pledges and execute it" Shariftold reporters before flying to Djibouti as parts of his officialtravels.
. The U.N backed Somali government which controls a small portion of thecapital Mogadishu, is facing strong fierce opposition from SomaliIslamists who declared ‘Jihad’ against it.

The world attention has diverted to Somalia after the powerfulAlshabaab group has claimed the responsibility of suicide blastsrocked in the Ugandan capital Kampala that killed 70 people.
