Somalia news

Mogadishu (Sunatimes) At least sixty two Somali and Ethiopian illegal immigrants who were rescued by a US war ship this week have been transferred to another US ship in the Gulf of Aden.

American officials are yet to decide where to take the immigrants who were heading to Yemen before their boat capsized in the Indian Ocean on Monday this week.

The immigrants were first rescued by Winston S. Churchill war ship and later transferred USS Pearl Harbor US ship which was sailing in the Gulf of Aden.

Close to twenty people among those immigrants are reported to have died and another sixty of them were rescued by the US ship. The immigrants boarded a small boat from the Somali coast before it capsized along the coast.

More and more illegal immigrants from the Horn of Africa mainly Somalis and Ethiopians are trying to cross to Yemen after the seasonal Monsoon winds stopped.
