Somali Pirates MOGADISHU (Sunatimes)- A court in Puntland semiautonomous onMonday sentenced a Somali pirate leader to death for killing aPakistani skipper before hijacking a ship.

"After going through the evidence of the killing of captain SayidJacfar, I find that Salah Mohamed Ghelle was sentenced to death ,"Mohamed Yusuf, the judge of the court in Bossaso said at the courtsession.

His pirates colleagues who participated in that attack on Dubai ownedship were jailed for 10-17 years in jail and some were ordered to payfines amounted 3,000 dollars.

The Pakistani skipper was killed as the pirates were boarding thePanama-flagged MV QSM Dubai in early June as he set off from Brazil onhis way to northern Somalia.
