Bosaso (Sunatimes) Two police officers who work at the Bsoaso sea port were today killed in an explosion that occurred this morning. Four other people who were civilians were also injured.

Police officers in Bosaso launched an operation immediately in different parts of the port cit. Tens of people are reported to have been arrested a few hours later and taken to different police stations for nterrogation.

The explosion occurred as a result of a land mine bomb that was discovered by a woman and it later exploded on the policemen who came to examine it.

A senior Puntland official who sought anonymity said that the explosion is believed to have been plotted by a local militia that is linked to Al-shabab.

Some of Puntland’s mine experts have also told radio Bar-kulan that the mine was locally made due to the contents they have found in it and some of the objects that caused most of the injuries among the casualties.
