Burco (Sunatimes) Somaliland’s security officials in the Togder region have been carrying out operations the last few days. A number of suspects who were connected to the Al-shabab militia have been arrested.

Yusuf Shire, who was among the officers who carried out the security operation in Burao, told radio Bar-kulan that they have so far arrested ten people who are suspected to be members of Al Shabab. Mr. Shire said that the suspects will soon be brought to court to answer terrorism charges.

Mr. Shire also said that they will continue their operation. However, he did not mention when they will stop the operation. He also urged local citizens to cooperate with security officials and give them information on any other suspects.

Among those arrested today are people from the southern parts of the country and some are local citizens of the break away region in Northern Somalia.

All suspects are currently being held at Burao’s central police station where they are being interrogated.
