(Kampala, (Sunatimes) I fortunately got a golden opportunity to visit one of the Jails in Kampala, where some Somalis are held in connection with bomb blasts that killed 76 people in Uganda on July 11, 2010, as We joined and share heartfelt sympathies with the people of Uganda and the other nations in particular the families and friends of those who lost their lives and wish speedy recovery to those who were wounded. Among those arrested for in Pursuing Kampala Bombers, is one of our colleagues in the Media whose name is Bille Abdullahi Ali. He had been arrested by Ugandan anti-terrorists Unit on July 13, 2010.

I tried hard enough to know about the situation of the journalist as I was with the families of those who were held in the same prison with Journalist Bille.

The families of those Somali prisoners are only allowed to provide prisoners for food to break the fast in this holy month of Ramadan.

Although we were allowed to see them under security instructions, it was not possible for me to ask the journalist many things about his conditions in the cell and how he was treated by the security forces.

I'm deeply concerned and shocked when I saw by his physical appearance and he was emotionally and mentally unwell. "What a fret situation that was?" He became as a neurotic person with bad circumstance and he was physically poor. I immediately thought, that he had been interrogated, tortured, harassed and received all sorts of Mal-treatment in the jail.

Nevertheless, as we are Somali Journalists, we are hereby kindly appealed from the Regional Governments, international Non-Governmental organizations, included international press freedom defenders, Human rights activists and the international community to follow-up the case of Journalist Bille C/llahi Ali with Uganda Government in order to speak out or at least to speed up the allegations against him or to bring him court.

Several Somali Journalists who were forced to flee from their country for insecurity are still fear for their safety in countries like Uganda and Kenya.

Somalia is Africa's deadliest country of journalists, where press freedom has been totally buried and suffered in the hands of radical Islamists.

I thank you so much for your excellences.
yours sincerely,

Mohamed Mohamud Odowa
